Atlanta, GA trumpet player, Greg McLean, is also well known as a composer and arranger. He is a versatile musician who performs, composes and arranges in all styles of music. But Greg especially enjoys the expressive freedom of jazz. He has toured the world with Hotlanta Dixieland Jazz. He has performed in numerous musical ensembles since 1975. These include jazz combos, brass ensembles and variety bands, in addition to big bands and orchestras.  Atlanta trumpet player Greg McLean has backed artists such as Allen Vizzuti, Slide Hampton, Jim Pugh, Little Anthony, The Temptations, Frankie Valli, Diane Schuur, The Four Freshmen, The Lettermen, Roger Williams, Bob Hope, Joan Rivers and others. Most notably, in the spring of 2017 and 2018 Greg toured with the Stan Kenton Legacy Orchestra as one of the jazz trumpet soloists.  He has also performed as a solo artist with various jazz ensembles. In March 2019 Greg was featured guest jazz soloist with the Shelton State College Jazz Ensemble, Shelton State College, Tuscaloosa, AL.
McLean has also performed with the Georgia State University faculty brass quintet and various other brass chamber ensembles.

Greg’s compositions have been performed by artists such as Jens Lindemann, Marvin Stamm, James Thompson, Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet and others. Recently, McLean’s concerto, The Twain Have Met was recorded by the New England Conservatory Wind Ensemble. The recording features Marvin Stamm and Charles Schleuter as soloists.
